Friday Fiesta Author Feature – Charlie Hadley

CharlieHadleyWelcome to my second Friday Fiesta Author Feature on the blog! This week I have the pleasure of sitting down with Charlie Hadley to learn a little more about what she likes to write. Charlie is in theย  beginning stages of her first erotic novel which she hopes to make available by the end of this year. Click on her links to connect on social media if you want to be one of the first to know about the new release!

About Charlie:

Hi! I’m Charlie.

I’ve been writing non-erotic fiction, children’s stories, and blogging for about five years now, under a different pen name.

I sent my first erotic fiction story into the You…Only Wetter short story competition after being dared by a friend and I won! Since then I have posted some more stories with them. Check them out here.

Due to winning that competition, I created a blog as an outlet for my erotic fiction writing. I also like to share articles and things I find of interest.

I post work on Literotica as Charley_Hadley and have Facebook and Twitter.

I’ve joined an erotic fiction writers group and we are working on bringing out a book later in the year of our collected stories.

Two of my stories have been picked to appear in a new erotic fiction podcast due to go live in August.

The people in my stories are loosely based on physical/personal characteristics of the people I am attracted toย  but I mix them up so that they are never all about one person. Everything else is pure imagination, honest. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I hope you enjoy reading my work as much as I enjoy writing it! ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

borderTime for Charlie to take the sombrero and tell us a little more about who she is…

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

I would say the thing that challenges me the most is keeping variety in the scenes I am describing. I don’t want to keep using the same actions and characters and find my stories become samey and boring.

I want to try and appeal to as many people’s tastes as I can which is why I often leave the physical description vague to allow the reader to imagine their own characters. But at the same time I want to include enough description for it to feel real to the reader.

I like to think I help fire up their imagination and allow them to explore some of their fantasies.

While you were writing, did you ever feel as if you were one of the characters?

It’s strange that when I am writing I can feel most of the actions as if they are happening to me. It’s as if I’m watching a movie of the action in my mind, I hear the voices and write out what I see.

It all seems to channel through me as it happens and when I’m in the moment it all feels very real to me. It’s only when I run out of steam writing and sit back to edit I actually realize what I wrote and sometimes I wonder where it all comes from!

What song do you play the most on your iPod?

A quick check on iTunes tells me my most played song is… dun dun dun… Alone by Heart. I was an 80’s child, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it ๐Ÿ˜‰ It is tied with Frontier City by Kings of Leon which is way cooler.

If you had one word to describe yourself, what would it be?

Do you have a cherished childhood toy?

I’m very sentimental. I have lots of cherished childhood toys and memories. My first teddy, doll, rattle, my toy car collection, I can’t part with any of them.

(Hey, me too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

An Excerpt from Movie Night by Charlie Hadley:

One night I got a bit tipsy and when I went to stand up I fell in his lap. He kissed my nose and called me ‘silly’ but something between us changed. Instead of helping me up he tilted my chin and pulled me into him for a kiss.

I buried my hands in his thick dark hair as the stubble from his beard tickled my chin and we kissed deeply. I’d begun to wonder what it would be like to kiss him. His lips always looked so inviting. He tasted like heaven. The more I gave myself to the kiss the more I hoped it would never end. He opened his eyes and came up for air, taking a deep breath and smiling at me with his boyish grin.

I saw his big hazel eyes up close for the first time, I could get lost in those eyes. I was certain I’d never see such beautiful eyes again, especially with such a deep desire staring back at me.

I rested my head on his shoulder, dizzy from excitement as I breathed in the sweet smell of him. The faint smell of sweat, stale aftershave, hair products and something I couldn’t put my finger on but knew I would never smell again.

He began to trace the outline of my breasts through my t-shirt with his finger. I ached for him to hold me and touch me.

I wanted all of him to cover all of me. I wanted his tanned skin to smother my pale skin so our bodies would merge into a moving artwork of colour.
